dimdim is out of beta
Just got the dimdim email that they are out of beta and have upgraded to version 4.5. We had lots of trouble with dimdim for audio conferencing and screen sharing in class this fall (though it was popular among student teams last spring.) Perhaps the new version will introduce more stability into their product. If anyone here tries it, let us know.
Danny, thanks for the post. Our 4.5 release introduced some new capabilities, like synchronized web browsing, but also included some enhancements to the system. Give it a try again and let me know how it goes.

Hello Danny, could you please tell me why dimdim was popular among student teams? I am in search of a tool that will help me and my team to collaborate effectively for our project for this Winter course. Is there a better tool that you recommend? In our first meeting, we used Skype to communicate and when it came to brainstorm our ideas and dived the tasks among us was a bit painful. We had to use pbwiki to get across!!!

Is this tool similar to a WebEx session where you can share presentations online and create virtual classrooms? I've had my share of issues with WebEx, but still resort to it since I'm comfortable with the interface. I'm always looking for new options however.
